-Inverted Sun- is a musical composition/ performance by Ernst Lima that serves as a sonic exploration of Hauntology and Interpolation, both distinct musical and philosophical concepts related to the theme of timelessness and reset. This piece delves into the layers of memory and the cyclical nature of time, creating an interplay between elements of the past and the present.

In the sound chamber of das weisse haus, Vienna, Ernst Lima showed a 10-minutes composition as well as an expanded live performed version of INVERTED SUN.  Through additional lyrics and improvised instrumental componants, I explore the temporal aspect of Melancholy, Hauntology and Interpolation on a revolving stage. Drawing inspiration from hauntological music, it incorporates spectral, reimagined fragments of bygone melodies and sounds, evoking a sense of nostalgia and confrontation. The interpolated musical fragments are seamlessly woven into a repetitive contemporary sonic framework, resulting in a composition that resonates with a haunting presence, challenging the linear progression of time through aural storytelling. Through musical interpolation, a reset of time occurs, and the past is granted new life.

As the past collides with the present in a ghostly embrace, the work becomes a meditation on the fluidity of time, challenging our conventional perception of history, memory, and the ceaseless dance of past and present.

Embrace this timeless reset as an opportunity to explore, reinterpret, and rediscover the essence of moments long past.
